WEEK OF 16th - 20th DECEMBER

THE PASSIVE IN THE NEWS
As you know, we use the passive when:
  1. The performer of the action is unknown, irrelevant, or obvious i.e.:
  2. The performer is less important than the action. i.e.:The fire was extinguished by a group of neighbours.
  3. The recipient of the action is the main topic. i.e.: Amodovar was given an award as the best director.

In this activity you must go on the Internet to find examples of passive use in these newspapers, them analyse the sentences and rewrite the sentences in the active form.

This is an example of what I want you to do:
Example from El Pais (English edition)

1. Analyse the passive structure. Use blue for the performer, red for the verb form and green for the recipient.

One other person was expected to appear before a judge later on Sunday to face vandalism charges, Efe news agency reported. (Use 1)
